Happy 13th Dylan!!

Dylan turned 13 on April 30. It was a very busy week and he had a track meet on his birthday but he got home about 7:30 and we surprised him with a dairy queen cake. He wanted money for his birthday this year so he could buy a Nintendo DSI and had fun playing that the rest of the night.

Last night we had our Awana awards night. Brittney received the Sparky award for finishing all three sparks books and Courtney received the 3rd book award for T & T. They have spent a lot of time learning verses and we are very proud of them!!!

Rusty the Clown came to church on Sunday night. He did tricks, juggled and talked about Jesus. The kids all had a great time. A couple of our kids helped him out for some of his tricks. Chelsey was so excited to see him as she had heard a lot about him from her sisters.

Saying goodbye to my childhood home and flooding

My childhood home My old room--looked weird empty!!

This is a bridge right outside my parents place--last summer the creek was almost empty

This is the creek flooding the bridge is in the background

My dad standing in the yard of mud--what a mess!!!

The is the Cedar river about 1 mile from our farm and you usually can't see water from the road
I helped my parents while I was up there move the rest of the heavy furniture out of the house that they had just sold. It was kind of sad as I grew up in this house but my parents just couldn't keep 2 houses up so it had to be done. I was glad that I could go up there one last time and see it.

The girls had a fun time coloring eggs at Grandma's house--I think Grandma had fun too. We also had an Easter service at the nursing home where my parents do a weekly Sunday morning service. My dad leads singing and sings a solo each week and my mom has a devotional. We also went to their church for a very nice Easter service celebrating our Risen Savior!!

Happy 80th birthday Dad!!

On April 9th my dad celebrated his 80th birthday. Bryan and I decided on Tuesday night that I should go up and surprise my dad. So on Thursday the 9th I loaded up the car and the 3 girls and I traveled up to North Dakota. My mom knew I was coming but dad did not. I arrived about 5:00 PM to find my dad out by the road in his bobcat trying to get the snow away from his bales. It was very, very muddy and I was so afraid I would get stuck on the road. My dad had his back to the road so I drove as fast as I could through the mud to get to the house without him seeing me. I then snuck out to the area where he was moving snow and went out and stood in front of him. He just starred for a long time--I don't think he could believe it was me. He was shocked and very surprised. We were able to stay through Easter Sunday and had a good time with them. We were also able to celebrate my mom's birthday on Easter Sunday--she will be 80 next year. How can I top this surprise!!
