Chelsey pumping water
Petting a goat

Chelsey's class

I went along on a field trip with Chelsey's kindergarten class to the Stuhr Museum. The field trip was a day at the farm. The kids pumped water, rang the dinner bell, saw a goat, calf and sheep and was able to pet the goat. They also got to hold a baby chick. We ate Burger king inside at the museum and then played for a while in a play area that they have there. It was too cold to go outside and eat and go to the park.

Chelsey's kindergarten easter program

Chelsey's kindergarten class came to the assisted living in town and had a program. She had some lines that she had to say and they sang several songs. The older people love to hear the kids sing. They also passed out easter eggs to the residents there.

Track & Courtney's 13th birthday

Courtney had her 1st track meet on April 7th. She ran the 1600 and the 800. In the mile she said that she had stabbing pains in her side the whole race, she was back a ways and when she turned the corner toward the finish line she sprinted as hard as she could and ended up in 6th place. When she ran the 800 I told her to stay close to the front and she ended up sprinting in the end and ended up in 2nd place. She did a great job and it was fun watching her run.

April 8th was Courtney's 13th birthday. We celebrated by going out to eat that evening and had ice cream cake at home after. On Saturday Courtney & me and Andrea and Jadyn (her really good friend) went shopping. Courtney got her ears pierced that day for her birthday. She was a little scared but in the end said that it didn't hurt. We spent the whole day shopping and she was able to go by herself and shop with Jadyn which she loved. I think everyone had a really fun day!!!!!

April 2, they are in the chicken house now

On March 11 we bought about 3 day old chicks. We kept them in the house for about a month and then they are now in the chicken house. The kids love them, I am sure that will change when they get big. It is fun for them to finally have a "PET"!

The Wild Ride

Mini Golf

Our kids had a day off from school on a Tuesday which is Bryan's day off and so we headed to Omaha to the Piz*za Machine!! Our kids love to go there, the boys like the games and the girls like the rides. The food is not great but they LOVE the slushies!!! Its one of the few places that we can go with a 5 year old and 16 year old and have something for everyone to do. I think they had a great time there again.

Brittney's 4th grade Field Trip

The whole class ready to eat

Making candles

Brittney's class visited the Stuhr museum for their field trip this year. They learned what it was like back in the "old" days and what they had to do to keep warm, eat, etc. They started out by bringing in the water and the wood for the stove. They then started making dinner where they had to peel the potatoes and carrots and cut the ham for the stew. They got all the done and the put in the stew to start cooking on the stove. They then shucked the corn and ground the corn and added all the ingredients for cornbread. They also had to churn the butter which they found out takes a long time. Finally everything was cooked and it was time to eat and they were able to eat the food that they had prepared. They also had to wash all the dishes by hand in a metal tub. They found out that it took a long time to make dinner back then and I think are very thankful for our modern conveniences. They also were able to dip wicks in to wax to make candles. A fun day was had by all.
