The boys had a fall concert on Monday--this year they are not in choir only in band. Tonight we carved pumpkins. We decided to have a contest boys against girls and dad was the judge. Brandon & Dylan won for originality and the girls won also because theirs was just so cute!!!! This week at school was red ribbon week (keep drug free) and they were to dress up in their costumes for school on Friday. Courtney decided to go as a clown and Brittney decided to go as a dog. Middle schoolers were supposed to dress up as their favorite singer. We found this wig and I told Brandon he needed to be Cher, except he didn't know who Cher was!!! He wore the wig anyway. For Halloween tomorrow night the girls are going to go as....Courtney as a bride, Brittney as a cheerleader and Chelsey either a ladybug or snow white or dora....check in later for a post on Halloween night and find out which costume Chelsey chooses!!!!

Football is now over. The boys team traveled to Silver Creek and lost their game. They had 4 games this season and only won 1 game. I think they both liked playing football. The first pictures are of the homecoming parade and the boys on their floats. Dylan's float won. The last 2 pictures are of Chelsey's hair. I was given a blog by a friend of how to do different hairstyles. I have been experimenting (when Chelsey cooperates) and I think that they have turned out pretty cute.

Today we had another football game against a team that had already beat us once this year. Our team really looked good today and they ended up winning 20-12. It was a real boost for the kids on the team as it is their only win so far. The BEST part of the whole game was that Brandon caught a touchdown pass and guess what--I missed it!! I was looking for Chelsey under the bleachers and then there was cheering and so I looked up and kind of saw that it was him. It was so great for him as he hasn't played much this year and played in most of the game and to get a touchdown--that was GREAT! A proud moment for us! I asked Brittney if she saw it and of course had no idea and later asked if we are the red or the blue?! Courtney was under the bleachers and said she heard Brandon's name on the loudspeaker. Dylan again only played in one play of the game on defense and of course I took another picture!

Brandon & Dylan are both out for middle school football this year (7th & 8th grades). They have played two games so far and have lost both games. They have 2 more to go and one is a team we have already played. Dylan is quarterback (7th grade) and so doesn't get any play time--he went in for one play on defense tonight at the end of the game and so I snapped this picture. Brandon plays some but not a lot. I think that they both like football.

I finally took school pictures. I don't like the pictures that they take at school and so last year I decided to do my own pictures. It is kind of hard getting everyone ready and taking good pictures but I like it better. Brandon is in 8th grade, Dylan-7th, Courtney-5th, and Brittney is in 2nd grade. School is going well it seems--we will find out this week at parent-teacher conferences. Dylan, Courtney & Brittney are taking piano, for Brittney this is her first year. Courtney is now playing the Saxophone in 5th grade band. Awana has also started for Courtney & Brittney and Chelsey gets to go to "His Kids" at our church (like Cubbies). The boys are also active in church youth group and FCA at school. They have their first football game Monday, Sept. 28 and so will post some pictures on that later.

On August 16 we had a clinic party, tanking down the Calamus River. We had 4 tanks of people and had a fun time throwing water balloons and playing in the river. Then on August 31, Labor day we went to Fullerton, NE and tanked down the Cedar river. The river was much lower there and we spent quite a bit of time trying to get out of the sand and the tanks were metal and so we relaxed in our chairs in the tank. We went with the Tweeten family and had a lot of fun!

Our oldest son, Brandon, just turned 14 this year. I can't believe it has been that many years already. We celebrated with a family water balloon fight, Casey's pizza and cake from Dairy Queen.

Brandon went to the orthodontist yesterday to get his braces on. By the evening he was feeling the pain and was not happy to have them at all!! As a matter of fact he wanted them back off. I told him it would be better (from experience). He said that this morning they were feeling a little better but still hurt. Tylenol and Ibuprofen will be his friends for awhile I am afraid.
